The present work is a case of study that has as priority to evaluate the conditions for the classification of the level of energy efficiency in a school unit, located in the city of Capivari de Baixo, Santa Catarina, Brazil. For this analysis, were used the parameters of the internationally recognized LEED environmental certification and the Technical Regulation of the Energy Efficiency Quality of Commercial, Services and Public Buildings (RTQ-C), prepared by PROCEL - National Program of Conservation of Electric Energy. The LEED for Schools Checklist and an on-line simulation, the Webprescriptive, were used as evaluation methods to verify the possible labeling of the construction under study. In this way, considering all the sample object of the research, it is concluded that, in carrying out a construction, it is essential that sustainability is linked to the project in the initial phase, so that there are no disruptions and expenses with remodeling. It should be noted that, as in the case of the kindergarten under study, the work is already completed, it is possible to apply some proposed items in the regulations, making the building have a better energy performance.
