Resumo: Introduction: Violence against women violates human rights, implying a public health problem. Objective: Identify the incidence of violence against women. Methodology: An ecological study was carried out based on data from the Notification Aggravation Information System, aiming at describing the main types of violence against women, the profile of the affected victims, the location and evolution of the case in the state of Santa Catarina, period from 2012 to 2017. Results: 22,612 cases of violence against women were reported, of which 16,086 were physical (71%), the most affected age group from 15 to 19 years old, with 3,564 cases (15%), mostly by single male aggressor, through body and residence strength. Conclusion: The present study showed a high incidence of violence against women, and this increase was observed gradually in each year of the study

Resultados: Foram notificados 22.612 casos de violência contra a mulher, sendo 16.086 do tipo física (71%), a faixa etária mais acometida de 15 a 19 anos com 3.564 casos (15%), as vítimas sofreram violência em sua maioria por agressor único, do sexo masculino, por meio de força corporal e em residência.
