Resumo: The developing region of an axially symmetric laminar flow from a reservoir to a sharp-edged tube is numerically simulated with a primitive-variables solver of the Navier-Stokes equations, using a plenum upstream of the tube inlet in order to avoid arbitrary specification of the profile at the inlet. Development region lengths, velocity profiles and head losses for varying Reynolds numbers are obtained. Results are compared to available experimental and theoretical results.
