EVALUATION OF WEB CONFERENCES BY DISTANCE HIGHER EDUCATION STUDENTS

Resumo: | Distance Education (EaD) is a teaching modality that has been gaining more space in Brazilian higher education. With the advent of new information and communication technologies, the use of tools such asweb conferencing has gained prominence in educational technology, as it enables real-time communication. In this way, this work aims to evaluate the perception of academics of a semi-attendance course in Biological Sciences regarding the use of web conferences. The research was carried out in the context of Cederj and was aimed at students from the first period of the course. 207 students who answered an online questionnaire after the course's web conference sessions participated in the research. The answers were analyzed according to the thematization process proposed by Fontoura (2011). According to the students' perception, web conferences represent a fundamental resource for answering questions, enabling greater understanding of the contents studied. Despite the striking characteristic of synchronicity, most students suggested that web conferences could be recorded and the material could be accessed at other times and opportunities. There is also a strong demand for other courses and disciplines to make regular use of this resource, suggesting that the tool be inserted and systematized within the scope of distance Higher Education. |

Con el advenimiento de las nuevas tecnologías de la información y la comunicación, el uso de herramientas como las conferencias web ha ganado importancia en la tecnología educativa, ya que permite la comunicación en tiempo real. De esta forma, este trabajo tiene como objetivo evaluar la percepción de los académicos de un curso semipresencial de Ciencias Biológicas sobre el uso de conferencias web. La investigación se llevó a cabo en el contexto de Cederj y estuvo dirigida a estudiantes del primer período del curso. 207 estudiantes que respondieron un cuestionario en línea después de las sesiones de la conferencia web del curso participaron en la investigación. Las respuestas fueron analizadas según el proceso de tematización propuesto por Fontoura (2011). Según la percepción de los estudiantes, las conferencias web representan un recurso fundamental para responder preguntas,permitiendo una mayor comprensión de los contenidos estudiados. A pesar de la característica sorprendente de la sincronicidad, la mayoría de los estudiantes sugirieron que las conferencias web se pueden grabar y que se puede acceder al material en otros momentos y oportunidades. También existe una fuerte demanda de otros cursos y disciplinas que hagan uso regular de este recurso, sugiriendo que la herramienta sea insertada y sistematizada en el ámbito de la Educación Superior a distancia. A Educação a Distância (EaD) é uma modalidade de ensino que vem ganhando mais espaço na educação superior brasileira. Com o advento de novas tecnologias da informação e comunicação, o uso de ferramentas como a webconferência, vem ganhando destaque na Tecnologia Educacional, pois possibilita uma comunicação em tempo real. Neste caminho, este trabalho objetiva avaliar a percepção de acadêmicos de um curso de Licenciatura em Ciências Biológicas semipresencial, a respeito do uso de webconferências em uma disciplina de primeiro período do curso. Participaram da pesquisa 207 estudantes que responderam a um questionário on-line após as sessões de webconferências da disciplina. As respostas foram analisadas segundo o processo de tematização proposto por Fontoura (2011). Segundo a percepção dos estudantes, as webconferências representam um recurso fundamental para sanar suas dúvidas, possibilitando maior compreensão dos conteúdos estudados. Apesar da característica marcante da sincronissidade, boa parte dos estudantes sugeriram que as webconferências pudessem ser gravadas e o material pudesse ser acessado em outros momentos e oportunidades.
