Resumo: | Changes brought about by the needs of society have had an impact on the practical dimension of the dental profession and raised the issue of curricular changes in dental schools. The National Curriculum Guidelines for Dental Courses, approved by the National Council of Education (CNE/CES nº 1.300/01, dated Nov 06, 2001), have allowed the incorporation of optional courses and professional development activities into the curriculum, so that dentists have the opportunity to be fully qualified and educated. The proposal presented here was developed during the preparation of a term project for the “Teacher Training in Digital Contexts” course, and suggests the incorporation of a course called “Computer Sciences in Dentistry” into the new Dental School undergraduate program. The course will be offered to undergraduate students and will be conducted on-campus and by distance learning, incorporating distance education concepts. This new approach should prepare students to learn through action, interaction and operation. It is, in fact, a challenge for teachers and students to use initiative, search abilities, the stimulus to act and the exchange of academic production as an opportunity for enrichment and growth. Therefore, its purpose is to create a learning environment that invites actions and reflections, and its goal is the co-construction of shared knowledge. It is our invitation to reflection, growth and a new manner to educate in Dentistry |

Development of an alternative teaching model for the discipline of dental informaticsProposta de uma nova abordagem pedagógica para a Disciplina de Informática aplicada à OdontologiaTeaching. Therefore, its purpose is to create a learning environment that invites actions and reflections, and its goal is the co-construction of shared knowledge. It is our invitation to reflection, growth and a new manner to educate in DentistryAs evidentes transformações decorrentes das necessidades impostas pela sociedade ampliam a dimensão profissional do cirurgião-dentista e sugerem a reformulação curricular nas faculdades de Odontologia.
