Evaluation of the higher education professor’s performance with the participation of students

Resumo: | In all education areas there is the need for evaluation. Students are constantly evaluated and checked by faculty whereas professors are not always submitted to the same process. The aim of this work was to analyse important factors in the evaluation process in higher education. The pedagogical knowledge itself does not modify the act of educating, and does not bring about new practices. The evaluation process must be based on competence, skills, and on the developed curricular contents having as reference the curricular guidelines. While evaluating, we must always consider the questions: What? What for? How? Who? The systematic importance of an evaluation instrument should be pointed out, as well as the relevance of collecting the students’ opinion, since they are active subjects in the teaching-learning process. |

Os acadêmicos são constantemente avaliados e aferidos pelo corpo docente; porém, os professores nem sempre são submetidos ao mesmo processo. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar fatores importantes do processo de avaliação no ensino superior. Os saberes pedagógicos, em si, não modificam a ação de educar, não geram novas práticas. As avaliações devem basear-se nas competências, habilidades e nos conteúdos curriculares desenvolvidos, tendo como referência as diretrizes curriculares, e sempre considerar: Para quê? O quê? Como? Quem?
