Resumo: | Alceu Penna (1915-1980) creator of the column As Garotas do Alceu in The Cruzeiro magazine became a reference in fashion and behavior by his illustrations in the mid-twentieth century. Alongside this activity in the press, he developed a solid and little-known career designing costumes for several shows between the 1930s and 1970. This article discusses his career as a costume designer from casinos to the export shows that will spread the mulatto woman as a national object of desire. Brasil Export (1972) by Abelardo Figueiredo for which the artist creates costumes stand out in all of its production, because it points to important absences to understand the image of the mulatto woman who emerges from it. |

Ao lado dessa atuação na imprensa, desenvolveu uma sólida e pouco conhecida carreira desenhando figurinos para espetáculos diversos entre as décadas de 1930 e 1970. Este artigo aborda a carreira de Penna como figurinista dos palcos dos cassinos ao teatro de revista até chegar aos shows tipo exportação, estes últimos difusores da mulata como objeto de desejo nacional.
