Resumo: This paper has the purpose of investigating the caricatures of Belmonte that have fashion as their theme, published in the Carioca magazines Frou-Frou and Careta between 1923 and 1927. The analysis of these graphic representations can offer a valuable contribution to the understanding of the social customs and clothing choices of the bourgeois class in the then-metropolitan capital of the country; we intend to propose a consideration of changes in clothing, of the feminine archetype and the relations between the genders, in a period of dissemination of the culture of appearances and fostering of the esthetics of daily life, in full force in urban modernity.
