Resumo: The Ports are important links of the logistic chain in the international exchanges and the growth of the foreign trade. The increase of the intensity and productivity of the work on Port, can lead to precarity in working conditions and the quality of the life to those who works on Ports. Most of the dock workers develop their jobs inside the holds with diesel-powered machines. In this context, we investigated evidences of the high level of the air contamination inside the holds due to works with diesel engine machines. The results show high levels of pollution can be reduced with the adoption of the new technologies specified on the government program to control the vehicular emissions.

O aumento da intensidade e da produtividade pode ocasionar um afastamento do foco na qualidade de vida no trabalho. Parte dos trabalhadores portuários desenvolve atividades de estivagem de carga nos porões dos navios com empilhadeiras movidas a diesel. Nesse contexto, buscou-se investigar a evidência de altos níveis de particulados e gases poluentes ligados à queima de diesel nas operações de estivagem em porão de navio.
