Resumo: The Production Engineering (PE) course is configured at the interface of classical engineering with the administrative area, capable of combining both technical engineering knowledge and training in the areas of management and strategies of an organization. Analyzing the case of the four Public Universities of São Paulo State (USP, UNICAMP, UNESP e UNIVESP), this work aimed to compare the emphasis given to the disciplines of administration and economics in their main PE courses. This is qualitative research with an exploratory approach and uses documental research as an investigative technique in the National Curriculum Guidelines for Undergraduate Courses in Brazil (DCN), in the Political-Pedagogical Projects (PPP) of the analyzed courses, and the menus of each of the selected disciplines; finally, a survey was applied to the coordinators/supervisors of the courses. It can be seen that all analyzed courses are in line with the DCN in offering business administration and economics disciplines. However, there was great variability in the organization of these contents within the disciplines and their respective approaches. As an exploratory study, this work presented a first systematized view on the subject, contributing by presenting suggestions of avenues to be followed in new studies.
