Assessment of different metal hardness used in the manufacture of pre-fabricated posts

Resumo: Various types of metallic materials are being searched in the last years, suitable for the manufacture of pre-fabricated posts, aiming to be used as Intra root retainers, and aesthetic and functional restoration. You can say that despite some gains in the use of non-metallic materials for the manufacture of intra-root posts, the metal is still a highly reliable alternative, especially because the clinical performance of metal retainers has been excellent. The present study had intended to evaluate in Vickers hardness test, three different metals (C. P. Titanium, Titanium/Vanadium/Aluminum Alloy and Stainless Steel Alloy), that can be used to this end. The results obtained demonstrated significant differences among the three tested materials.

The results obtained demonstrated significant differences among the three tested materials.Diversos tipos de materiais metálicos vêm sendo pesquisados nos últimos anos, indicados para a confecção de pinos pré-fabricados, com o objetivo de serem utilizados como retentores intrarradiculares visando à restauração estética e funcional. Pode-se afirmar que, apesar de algum ganho na utilização de materiais não metálicos para a confecção de pinos intrarradiculares, o metal ainda representa uma alternativa altamente confiável, especialmente porque o desempenho clínico dos retentores metálicos tem se mostrado excelente. O presente estudo teve como finalidade avaliar a dureza Vickers de três diferentes metais (Titânio C. P., Liga de Titânio/Vanádio/Alumínio e Liga de Aço Inoxidável), que podem ser utilizados para este fim.
