Resumo: Objective: to investigated the bond strength of MTA powder handled with distilled water (DW) or phosphate buffered saline (PBS). Material and Methods: two horizontal cross-section were prepared in the root of fifteen incisors, followed by drilling of two canal-like holes on its axial surface. Holes were filled with MTA with DW or PBS. Load was applied until MTA displacement. Mann-Whitney and Friedman tests were selected to establish the influence of independent variables on push-out strength. Results: MTA handled with DW and PBS showed similar values (p>0.05). Conclusion: DW or PBS do not interfere in push-out bond strength of MTA.

Material e Métodos: dois cortes transversais horizontais foram preparados na raiz de quinze incisivos, seguido de perfuração de dois orifícios em forma de canal na sua superfície axial. Os buracos foram preenchidos com MTA com DW ou PBS. A carga foi aplicada até o deslocamento do MTA. Testes de Mann-Whitney e Friedman foram selecionados para estabelecer a influência de variáveis independentes na força de push-out. Resultados: o MTA manipulado com DW e PBS apresentou valores semelhantes (p> 0,05).
