Resumo: | The aim of this study was to analyze the predictive power of symptoms and DSM-IV diagnostic criteria for ADHD. Participated 123 students, aged 8 to 10 years, both sexes, from state public schools, 3rd and 4th grades. The specific instruments for assessing the intensity and frequency of symptoms were the Teacher's Protocol and the MTA-SNAP-IV Scale. The results showed that 75% of the population are male and 24% are female; the 3rd series had the highest incidence with 50% while the 4th series 49%; among the 12 behaviors raised in the Teacher's Protocol, both grades, Being easily distracted by irrelevant stimuli had the highest evidence 83%; in the 4th grade 83% related to the same behavior and in the 3rd grade 82% is related to the above behavior and 77% Being disorganized with material and school activities; on the MTA-SNAP-IV Scale, among the 26 behaviors surveyed, both series, Gets distracted by external stimuli, with 85%; Cannot pay close attention to details or makes careless mistakes in schoolwork or assignments 72%. The study can conclude the importance of neuropsychological assessment to differentiate the symptoms/criteria that lead to the diagnosis of ADHD from other diagnoses. |
