Resumo: In the female gender, Depression stands out due its prevalence over the reproductive years. Especially in perimenopausal women, there is significant increase in the number of cases, particularly associated with hot flushes. Several antidepressants have demonstrated similar efficacies in the general population. However, studies suggest that it is possible a thorough and specific selection of the antidepressant medication for patients who have Major Depres-sive Disorder in the climacterium associated with vasomotor symptoms.
