Resumo: Introduction: Postpartum depression (PPD) is recognized as the most common mood disorder among postpartum women, being characterized as a multifactorial and underdiagnosed disease. The clinical feature is variable and may present physical, cognitive and behavioral changes. Objective: Therefore, the present study aimed to perform an integrative review of the literature regarding the prevalence and the associated risk factors with PPD in Brazil. Methods: In this sense, PubMed and SciELO databases were search with the following descriptors: “postpartum depression” and “Brazil”, present in the title or abstract of articles, in English and Portuguese, from the last 10 years, searched from December 2019 to March 2020. Results: The prevalence found ranged from 7.2% in Recife/PE to 39.4% in Vitória/ES. Regarding risk factors, a total of twenty different factors were detected. Among them, the most frequent were: previous history of psychiatric disorders, maternal level of education, family income, having a partner, and having a good relationship with him, skin color (black and brown), unplanned pregnancy and multiparity. Conclusion: It was concluded that the prevalence of PPD is high and variable, depending on the Brazilian region. Moreover, medical history, demographic variables and aspects related to pregnancy are associated with this condition.
