Cotard Syndrome: the disease of immortality

Resumo: Cotard syndrome is a rare condition characterized by anxious melancholy, delusions of non-existence of one’s own body, and delusions of immortality. In this article, we report the case of a 66-year old male patient diagnosed with Cotard syndrome resistant to pharmacological treatment and treated with electroconvulsive therapy. Some peculiarities of the diagnosis and treatment of this condition are discussed.

Neste artigo, relatamos o caso de um paciente do sexo masculino, com 66 anos de idade, com síndrome de Cotard refratária a psicofármacos e tratado com eletroconvulsoterapia.
