Resumo: Individuals with bipolar disorder (TB) have a higher risk of morbidity and mortality due to general medical illnesses, especially cardiovascular diseases, compared to the general population. Although multiple causes contribute to this outcome, inequalities in access to care and in the type of treatment implemented for general medical conditions are an important contributor. Different countries have sought to alleviate this problem with solutions that include the implementation of integrated care with psychiatrists and general practitioners, improvement of communication strategies and more efficient use of technology
