Politics in the Bench: confrontation and tension in JN's sabatines in the 2018 elections

Resumo: This article aims to analyze the interviews conducted by the Jornal Nacional with the five main candidates in the 2018 presidential elections. Faced with the strong position of television news in electoral scenarios, the article brings the hypothesis that JN using the premises of journalistic legitimacy transforms the questions in spaces of debate and confrontation. In prime time, the questions gained enormous visibility, given the candidates exposure time, which in some circumstances surpassed the presidential space of the free television time for electoral advertising (HGPE). To understand how the television news conducted the questions will be used content analysis methodology (Bardin, 2011).

Este artigo tem por objetivo analisar as entrevistas realizadas pelo Jornal Nacional com os cinco principais candidatos nas eleições presidenciais de 2018. Diante da posição marcante do telejornal em cenários eleitorais, o artigo traz a hipótese de que o JN, ao se utilizar das premissas da legitimidade jornalística, transforma as sabatinas em espaços de debate e confronto argumentativo. Exibida no horário nobre, as sabatinas ganharam enorme visibilidade, diante do tempo de exposição dos candidatos, que em algumas circunstâncias superaram o espaço do presidenciável no Horário Gratuito de Propaganda Eleitoral (HGPE). Para compreender como o telejornal conduziu as sabatinas, será utilizada metodologia da análise de conteúdo (Bardin, 2011).
