Resumo: Objective: to report a clinical case of rejuvenation of the perioral region using hyaluronic acid, mainly in the labial commissures, in order to restore aesthetics and prevent angular cheilitis injuries. Case Details: Female patient, 68 years old, with aesthetic complaint of loss of volume and shape of the perioral region. Upon clinical oral examination, it was found that because she had all the teeth, this accentuated groove in the commissures was due to facial aging. Facial aging is characterized by being a slow, progressive and irreversible process, influenced by intrinsic and extrinsic factors. The lips are anatomical units with greater extension than the red area of the mouth and include the adjacent skin, with the border of the upper lip, the nasolabial sulcus, and the lower one, the mentolabial sulcus. These folds that start at the labial commissures can also extend to the chin, which are called the mentholabial groove. The Juvederm ultra XC hyaluronic acid (HA) filler was used, in the amount of two syringes of 1ml each, totalizing 2ml applied in the perioral region. Conclusion: filling the perioral region with hyaluronic acid proved to be an excellent treatment option for correcting furrows caused by the aging process. In addition to the aesthetic benefits, there were also functional benefits for the patient, as it reduced the accumulation of saliva in the region of the labial commissures that suffered volume loss and, as a consequence, angular cheilitis disease is less likely to be manifested.

Profa.
