Resumo: From the US theoretical perspective about on the penetration power of the National Endowment for Democracy, NED, with the foreign aid discourse in situations of political instability, this paper aims to analyze the role of NED as an instance of the US Department of State (United States of America) in promoting a model of democracy in Latin America from the perspective of relational sociology. The argument was about the model of democracy driven by low-intensity foreign policy in Latin America. The formation of social networks was discussed in order to transmit symbols and meanings between the actors and the construction of shared representations. The NED, its origins and how it participated in Ecuador over the ten-year period (2006-2016) were described. The results presented here come from the application of document analysis and social network analysis (SNA) methods. The article notes a hub of organizations that work together or partner.

The article notes a hub of organizations that work together or partner.Partindo da perspectiva teórica de estadunidenses sobre o poder de penetração da National Endowment for Democracy, NED, com o discurso de ajuda externa em situações de instabilidade política, este artigo propôs-se analisar o papel da NED como uma instância do Departamento de Estado dos EUA (Estados Unidos da América) na promoção de um modelo de democracia na América Latina desde a perspectiva da sociologia relacional. Argumentou-se sobre o modelo de democracia impulsionado na política externa de baixa intensidade na América Latina. Discutiu-se a formação de redes sociais com o intuito de transmissão desímbolos e significados entre os atores e a construção de representações compartilhadas. Descreveram-se a NED, suas origens e como se deu sua participação no Equador no período de dez anos (2006-2016). Os resultados aqui apresentados são oriundos da aplicação de métodos de análise documental e de análise de redes sociais (ARS).
