Resumo: | The New Silk Road, known as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), consists of an investment plan proposed by China, encompassing 65 countries, comprising approximately 62% of the world’s population and 30% of global GDP. The BRI is the main foreign policy initiative of the Xi Jinping government, resulting in a strategic vision for the global projection of the country. The research aims to identify the main geopolitical impacts of the New Silk Road in Latin America, through the case study of the bioceanic railway between Brazil, Boliviaand Peru. The preliminary results point to the fact that such investments are fundamental for China due to the access to strategic natural resources that are important in order to maintain the pace of development of its economy in the long term. |
