This article has the pedagogical coordination in a military higher education institution in Brazil as its theme. The objective of this paper is to outline the profile of the pedagogical coordinators of the Agulhas Negras Military Academy (AMAN). The research combined the use of quantitative and qualitative approaches, which was carried out with the current pedagogical coordinators of AMAN and former ones who worked between 2019 and 2020. As for data collection, a questionnaire with open-ended, closed-ended and multiple-choice questions was used. The questions aimed to characterize the AMAN pedagogical coordinators through parameters such as age, gender, hierarchical level, initial training, previous experiences in teaching, academic degree, among others. The results reveal that the pedagogical coordinators at the institution are mostly men, over 40 years old, who hold diverse academic backgrounds and has extensive professional experience in the military career in general, but little experience in military higher education and pedagogical coordination. They seek to overcome the job challenges through self-improvement studies in civil and military courses, as well as in learning from more experienced professionals.
