Frameworks of Entrepreneurial Universities: A Systematic Review

The definition of a model (framework) for an entrepreneurial university (UE), together with the definition of elements and characteristics that lead to its existence, have been widely discussed in the literature. This study aims to identify prevalent conceptual frameworks for UE. The initial sample consisted of 181 researches extracted from the Web of Science and Scopus database, from the selection of materials, we performed a reference analysis to identify additional studies. Subsequently, a content analysis was performed on 50 articles, which made it possible to identify twelve distinct frameworks for the EU from 1998 to 2021: five element framework, triple helix framework, third mission framework, quad helix framework, helix framework fivefold, framework in light of institutional theory, framework including environmental factors, framework in light of systems theory, framework involving the use of nine blocks, framework based on the Brazilian context, framework focusing on formal and informal institutional factors, framework for the creation of entrepreneurial university 2.0, focusing on new public management and finally, we present a synthesis of entrepreneurial university frameworks according to the RSL.
