ARTDESIGN/CONTINUOUSFIELD. Convergences, divergences and transcendences between Art and Design

Resumo: I propose the reading of the fields of art and design not as circumscribed structures, historically and conceptually defined, with just a shifting frontier, but as a large field of matter informed in frequent overlapping and mutation, ranging from art to design passing through fields of diverse complexity, rarely with pure phenomena. The text presents different concepts of making in Agamben, of matter informed in Flusser, of the doubt about authenticity in Plutarch, and investigates a possibility of connection to José Damasceno’s artwork. It argues against the excesses of classification but in favor of logical definitions, which deepen the possibilities of reading a complex field that is born from the overlapping of possibilities of art and design, and tries to deal with the idea of the border as a center, as a network of complexity and not limit interface only. It presents a analogy born of particle generators in three-dimensional modeling software, and through examples of my work, argues about possibilities of the device as discourse and of the project as an artistic product.

El texto presenta diferentes conceptos del hacer en Agamben, de la materia informada en Flusser, de la duda sobre la autenticidad en Plutarco, e investiga una posibilidad de conexión con el trabajo de José Damasceno. Argumenta contra los excesos de clasificación pero a favor de las definiciones lógicas, que profundizan las posibilidades de lectura de un campo complejo que surge de la superposición de posibilidades del arte y el diseño, y trata de abordar la idea de la frontera como centro, como una red de complejidad y no solo como interfaz límite. Presenta una analogía nacida de los generadores de partículas en software de modelado tridimensional, y mediante ejemplos de mi trabajo, argumenta sobre las posibilidades del dispositivo como discurso y del proyecto como producto artístico.Proponho a leitura dos campos da arte e do design não como estruturas circunscritas, definidas histórica e conceitualmente, apenas com uma fronteira mutável, mas sim como um grande campo de matéria informada em sobreposição e mutação frequente, que vai da arte ao design passando por campos de complexidade diversos, raramente com fenômenos puros. O texto apresenta diferentes conceitos do fazer em Agamben, de matéria informada em Flusser, da dúvida sobre a autenticidade em Plutarco, e investiga uma possibilidade de conexão com o trabalho de José Damasceno. Argumenta contra os excessos classificatórios mas em favor de definições lógicas, que aprofundam as possibilidades de leitura de um campo complexo que nasce da sobreposição de possibilidades entre arte e design, e tenta tratar da ideia de fronteira como centro, como rede de complexidade e não somente interface limite.
