Videobrasil 40 Years Special. The Archive in Performance

Resumo: The 22nd SESC_Videobrasil Biennial celebrates its 40-year journey in 2023, drawing inspiration from Waly Salomão’s poem: “Memory is a editing station.” The parallel and historical exhibition Videobrasil | 40 Years Special is a living archive, a space of activation, reverberation, and potential immersions into a collection comprising over 2,000 works. This recollection places the artworks in a series of new dialogues and contemporary approximations, within a performative process that triggers new layers of meaning in the gaps between the present and historical time. We will showcase the exhibition’s construction process, which attempts to narrate the history of Videobrasil through multiple axes and intersections. In doing so, we engage historical and conceptual questions, bringing together curation, design, and research.

La exposición paralela (y muestra histórica) Videobrasil | Especial 40 Años es un archivo vivo, un espacio de activación, reverberación y posibles inmersiones en la colección compuesta por más de 2.000 obras. Una rememoración que sitúa las obras en una serie de nuevos diálogos y enfoques contemporáneos, en un proceso performativo que desencadena nuevas capas de significado, en los vacíos entre el tiempo presente y el histórico. Mostraremos el proceso de construcción de la exposición que intenta contar, en múltiples ejes e intersecciones, la historia de Videobrasil. Para ello, ponemos en diálogo cuestiones históricas y conceptuales, acercando la curaduría, el diseño y la investigación.A 22ª Bienal SESC_Videobrasil celebra em 2023 sua trajetória de 40 anos de atividade e tem o poema de Waly Salomão como inspiração: “A memória é uma ilha de edição”. A exposição paralela (e mostra histórica) Videobrasil | Especial 40 anos é um arquivo vivo, um espaço de ativação, reverberação e possíveis mergulhos no acervo composto por mais de 2 mil obras. Uma rememoração que coloca as obras em uma série de novos diálogos e aproximações contemporâneas, em um processo performativo que deflagra novas camadas de sentido, nas frestas entre o presente e o tempo histórico. Vamos mostrar o processo de construção da exposição que tenta contar, em múltiplos eixos e cruzamentos, a história do Videobrasil.
