This work investigates sculpture parks and open air museums, focusing on the understanding of exhibition design issues at the Museu Felícia Leirner, an open-air, monobiographic museum, located in Campos do Jordão in the state of São Paulo, which has 85 works by the art- ist, in the garden of the space that it divides with the Audi- torium Claudio Santoro, home of the International Winter Festival, comprising a forest area with 35 thousand square meters of extension. In an attempt to understand how and when open-air spaces are set up as museums, the aim is to contribute to exhibition design, especially in open spaces, park museums and sculpture parks. In addition, the interest in promoting the knowledge of the production of the men- tioned artist and of the chosen place as a case study, being this one of the few open air museums and with a mono- biographic collection in Brazil motivates this dissertation. The research method involved the investigation of existing works and related bibliography, survey and analysis on ex- hibition design, the sculptress and the museum chosen as a case study, interviews with museum representatives and compilation and interpretation of the data. It concludes in a critical analysis of the presented theme, the aspects that confirm the Felicia Leirner Museum as an open-air museum and not only a sculpture park.
