Resumo: The poetry of Cecília Meireles is characterized by a frequent exercise of meditation associated with natural landscapes’ representations, especially those of the plant world. This work deals with poems from the books between Viagem (1939) and Retrato natural (1949) in which images of gardens, flowers and trees are articulated to the investigation of life cycles, the passage of time and the precariousness of existence. The analyses are developed based on the poet’s critical fortune on theoretical works on the relationship among literature and landscape and on the botanical imaginaries.
