Rimbaud’s presence in the Brazilian press of the nineteenth century

Resumo: Considering the studies dedicated to the processes of cultural transfers, the article analyzes the circulation, in the Brazilian newspapers of the nineteenth century, of the writings of Arthur Rimbaud. The publication in the magazine Homens e Lettras was a translation of an article in the Nouvelle Revue, by Maurice Peyrot. The Brazilian publication, by Samuel Martins, shows the poet’s presence in the country during this period. Through the observation of the articles, one can demonstrate the effects of cultural transfers and how, in the process of migration of an art object, choices are made, generating a new artistic material.

La revista Homens e Lettras, ya que fue una traducción de un artículo de Nouvelle Revue, de Maurice Peyrot. La publicación brasileña, de Samuel Martins, muestra la presencia del poeta en el país durante este periodo. Observar los artículos puede demostrar los efectos de las transferencias culturales y cómo se toman decisiones en el proceso de migración de un objeto artístico, generando nuevos materiales artísticos.Considerando os estudos dedicados aos processos de transferências culturais, analisamos a circulação, nos jornais brasileiros do século XIX, dos escritos de Arthur Rimbaud. Dentre as ocorrências encontradas, selecionamos a publicação na revista Homens e Lettras por se tratar de uma tradução de um artigo da Nouvelle Revue, de Maurice Peyrot. A publicação brasileira, de Samuel Martins, mostra a presença do poeta no país nesse período.
