The present text analyses Aniki Bóbó, book published in 1958 through the partnership between João Cabral de Melo Neto and his cousin, the designer and illustrator Aloisio Magalhães. Considering the verbal and visual texts, several studies and correspondence exchanged by the authors still in the beginning of the 50’s, an incursion into the play field is proposed before the publication of the Museu de tudo (1975), which has great thematic freedom and a certain poetic relaxation. It is believed, however, that before the adventures of the character Aniki, Uma faca só lamina, composed in 1955, already seems to talk about ludicity, in view of its use of typical expressions of gassing games.
