Affective triggers of discourse and the buying and selling of semiotic stimuli on Twitter

Resumo: From the reflection on a practical analytical tool for discourse analysts interested in affect, the affective trigger of discourse emerged. This article, in turn, arises from the need to explain and expand the affective trigger concept proposed in Bonfante (2018), as well as locating this analytical tool within indexicality. To illustrate the operationalization of the concept in an analysis, the article focuses on the observation of the online performance of the cash masters and cash slaves, a public sexual practice on Twitter mediated by the platform and language. The article also provides examples of what is done with language in sensual contexts in platform society. Among the conclusions is the suggestion that affective studies of online language can profit ethically from a critique of neoliberalism.

El artículo también proporciona ejemplos de lo que se hace con el lenguaje en contextos sensuales en la sociedad de plataformas, entre las conclusiones se encuentra la sugerencia de que los estudios afectivos del lenguaje online pueden beneficiarse de una crítica al neoliberalismo.Da reflexão acerca de uma ferramenta analítica prática para analistas do discurso interessados em afeto, surgiu o gatilho afetivo do discurso. Esse artigo, por sua vez, surge da necessidade de explicar e expandir o conceito gatilho afetivo proposto em Bonfante (2018), assim como localizar esse instrumental analítico dentro da indexicalidade. Para ilustrar a operacionalização do conceito em uma análise, o artigo se lança à observação das performances online dos cash master e cash slave, prática sexual pública no Twitter intermediada pela plataforma e pela linguagem. O artigo também fornece exemplos do que se faz com a linguagem em contextos sensuais na sociedade de plataforma.
