Resumo: The present study aims, firstly, to understand the importance of establishing a comparative and analytical study of Castro Alves’ poetry, which bring an explicit reference to Victor Hugo and, in a second moment, to outline the cultural and historical panorama that justifies the choices made by the poet Brazilian in order to reiterate in his writings the wizard of French poetry.
