Resumo: This essay presents the sustainable development of the remainders community of “quilombolas” from Monte Alegre, in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Espírito Santo. It shows how the university interference in means of research, education and extension, has contributed for the development of the region, with special emphasis for the tourist activities as a start of one of the main vocations of the place. It presents the results of a research aiming at diagnosis the local society, enabling the knowledge of the social economic profile from the community, aimed at providing financial support for actions in strategies planning and others. It introduces the results of the strategy planning developed based on diagnosis from the own inhabitants. This planning will help to guide the future of the place, being a project that respects the inhabitants’ characteristics, since it was made by them. The article concludes presenting the new stages of the project that will be followed, aiming at connect tourist practical and theory education and other similar areas.

Este trabajo se refiere al desarrollo sostenible de una comunidad de descendientes de quilombolas en Monte Alegre, Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Espírito Santo. Revela como la intervención de la universidad, mediante investigación, enseñanza y extensión ha contribuído para el desarrollo de la región, con especial énfasis para las actividades turísticas que aparecen como una de las principales vocaciones del lugar. Presenta los resultados de una investigación cuyo objetivo es hacer un diagnóstico sobre la sociedad local y posibilitar el conocimiento del perfil socio económico de la comunidad, para así subsidiar acciones de planificación estratégica, entre otras. Presenta los resultados de la planificación estratégica desarrollada con base al diagnóstico hecho por los propios residentes. Esta planificación servirá para orientar el futuro de la localidad siendo un documento que respeta las características de sus habitantes, porque desarrollada por estos. Concluye presentando las nuevas etapas del proyecto, con el objetivo de aunar teoría y prática en la enseñanza del Turismo y otras áreas relacionadas.Este trabalho trata do desenvolvimento sustentável da comunidade de remanescentes de quilombolas de Monte Alegre, em Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Espírito Santo. Revela como a intervenção da universidade, por meio da pesquisa, do ensino e da extensão, tem contribuído para o desenvolvimento da região, com especial ênfase para as atividades turísticas que despontam como uma das principais vocações do lugar. Apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa cujo objetivo é diagnosticar a sociedade local e possibilitar o conhecimento do perfil sócio-econômico da comunidade, visando subsidiar ações de planejamento estratégico, entre outras. Apresenta os resultados do planejamento estratégico desenvolvido com base no diagnóstico pelos próprios moradores. Este planejamento servirá para orientar o futuro da localidade sendo uma peça que respeita as características dos moradores, uma vez que foi desenvolvida por eles.
