Rural tourism in Blumenau (SC): prospects and challenges from the evaluation families hosting visitors in their homes

Resumo: The changes in recent years have established a lot of challenges for rural development, leading to the use of different approaches for the promotion of these spaces. The employ of different strategies produced the creation of new opportunities for income generation arising from the incentive for non-agricultural activities, including the tourism. The promoting of the Caminhada Cultural e Ecológica da Vila Itoupava appears as a first experience which the municipality of Blumenau (SC) sponsored in the sector. The initiative is the object of the study in this research. The work examines how the residents who host visitors into their homes evaluate their participation in the event. The interviews with families indicate a high level of satisfaction with the activity, especially for the opportunity that it provides for the promotion of new life experiences, the strengthening of social relations and the appreciation of cultural and natural diversity.

La ejecución de diferentes estrategias ha impulsado la creación de nuevas oportunidades de generación de ingresos derivados de los incentivos a las actividades no agrícolas, entre las que se incluye el turismo. La realización de la Caminhada Cultural e Ecológica da Vila Itoupava se enmarca como una primera experiencia de este tipo promocionada por la alcaldía de Blumenau (SC). La iniciativa es el objeto de estudio de esta investigación, que examina cómo los residentes que reciben a los visitantes en sus hogares evalúan su participación en el evento. Las entrevistas a las familias indican un alto grado de satisfacción con la actividad, especialmente por la oportunidad que ofrece para la promoción de nuevas experiencias de vida, el fortalecimiento de los vínculos sociales y la apreciación de la diversidad cultural y natural.As mudanças ocorridas nos últimos anos impuseram uma série de desafios ao desenvolvimento rural, levando à adoção de diferentes abordagens na promoção de tais espaços. A implementação de estratégias diversificadas impulsionou a criação de novas possibilidades de geração de renda derivadas do incentivo às atividades não-agrícolas, entre as quais se inclui o turismo. A realização da Caminhada Cultural e Ecológica da Vila Itoupava configura-se como uma primeira experiência do gênero promovida em Blumenau (SC). A iniciativa constitui o objeto de estudo da presente pesquisa, que analisa como os moradores que acolhem visitantes em suas casas avaliam a sua participação no evento.
