Resumo: | This work deals with the role of black women as transmitters of cultural practices of African origin in Cariri Ceará. The research is based on the theoretical-methodological dialogue with the (auto)biographical approach in relation to memory and orality. Black women played a leading role in the history of the black population in the context of Ceará, so they are central figures in the production of African-based culture. The narrative interviews conducted with two black women producing culture in Cariri Ceará, Maria Juraci dos Santos Silva, Dona Iraci from the Chico Gomes community, in Crato, Ceará, and Maria Josefa da Conceição, Dona Maria de Tiê, from the quilombola community of Souza, in Porteiras, Ceará, they indicate: a) the existence of a dynamic network of women protagonists and those responsible for transmitting the Afro-descendant legacy of Caririense; b) a historical legacy of the presence of black women in Cariri Cearense; c) the pedagogical possibilities for the redimensioning of education that start from local Africanities. |
