Biomechanical modifications of the musculoskeletal system: the stepping stone towards human evolution

Resumo: The evolutionary sequence of our ape ancestors resulted in a series of morphologic, developmental, physiologic, and behavioral changes in the human body. In this sense, no other system underwent such deep changes in the development of the human species as the musculoskeletal system. This article aims to understand how bones, muscles, and other soft tissues have evolved around the hip, limbs, and spine in the human lineage, and how this can be helpful to better understand injuries by overuse patterns.
