Resumo: Pityosis is an infectious disease, which is in the cutaneous-subcutaneous region, and may evolve into a systemic disease reported in different animals, with the equine species being the most affected, and in humans. This paper will report the clinical conduct of a pregnant mare diagnosed with pythiosis in the state of Alagoas. A case has been reported of a mare with no definite breed, with a wound in the ventral region of the abdomen, with itching in the lesion, pain, and lack of appetite. The owner believes that she is in the final third of her pregnancy. The animal was raised extensively in a flooded region. A clinical examination of the animal was performed, and microbiological and histopathological tests of the lesion were requested, where it was diagnosed with Pityosis. Palliative treatment was instituted until delivery, but the animal died during treatment. Care should be taken especially for pregnant animals, as the injury caused by the pseudofungus Pitium insidiosum may cause the animal to die more quickly.
