Resumo: This case report presents the diagnosis and management of a 25-year-old patient diagnosed with Morel-Lavallée syndrome (SML), a rare serolinfatic effusion resulting from tangential injury to highly vascularized tissues. The patient initially received a misdiagnosis before being properly diagnosed with SML and undergoing surgical intervention, highlighting the importance of proper identification and treatment of this syndrome. The diagnostic difficulty and limited scientific literature available on SML were recognized as limitations of the study. The authors conclude that SML deserves special attention in patients who have suffered trauma to avoid diagnostic errors and ensure proper recognition, referral, and management as soon as possible for better prognosis.
