Resumo: Introduction: Stressful conditions are part of sporting life. In artistic swimming, due to the characteristics of the modality, which includes elements of swimming, gymnastics and dance, a high technical capacity is required for the synchronization of movements and fluidity in the formations of the figures. Objective: To compare stress and recovery, anxiety, coping, and sports experience in athletes from two states teams of artistic swimming and examine the correlation of coping with stress, recovery, and anxiety. Methods: The convenience sample consisted of 20 athletes (13.5±1.4 years old) from the Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais artistic swimming federations. RestQ-Sport was used; ACSI-28BR and IDATE. Data normality was verified by the Kolmogorov-Smirnoff test and the independent Student's t-test, the non-parametric Mann Whitney test and Pearson's correlation test were used to examine the associations. Results: There was a significant difference between teams in terms of age, practice time, training hours/day and weekly training volume/hours. There was a correlation between the dimensions of Goals/Mental preparation with General Stress, Fatigue, Success and Injuries. Trait Anxiety was correlated with Conflicts/Pressure and Somatic Complaints. Conclusion: It is concluded that coping plays a significant role for the analyzed groups, that athletes from Minas Gerais present higher trait anxiety values and are influenced by somatic complaints.
