Resumo: Anterior knee pain is a common symptom, which may have a large variety of causes including patellofomoral pathologies, chondromalacia among other pathologies is one cause of the patellofomoral pain. After the process is initiated, patellofomoral pain syndrome frequently becomes a chronic problem, leading to the interruption of sports practice and other activities. Alterations of hyaline cartilage tend to evolve, they can rapidly lead to functional disability of the joint and are among the most frequent causes of chronic disability.

A condromalacia, dentre outras patologias, é uma das causas da dor patelofemural. Depois que o processo é iniciado, a síndrome da dor patelofemural, freqüentemente, se torna um problema crônico, levando o praticante a interromper a prática de esporte e de outras atividades.
