THE IMPORTANCE OF LEGISLATION IN PROMOTING AGROECOLOGY

Resumo: | This article looks at the importance of legislation in promoting Agroecology, highlighting the potential of law to encourage ethical and more sustainable production practices. It looks at how legislation can shape agroecology in practice, through regulations in a number of areas, including the use of pesticides and fertilisers, the protection of farmers' rights and the promotion of policies that encourage sustainable agricultural practices. The article reviews global examples of legislation that promote agroecologically-based crops, with a special focus on the Common Agricultural Policy in Europe, government policies in Brazil and Cuba. Challenges and opportunities for promoting agroecology as a science through legislation are discussed here, addressing aspects such as the influence of corporate and political interests, as well as growing awareness of the negative impacts of climate change and demands for more sustainable food systems. |

El estudio analiza cómo la legislación puede moldear la Agroecología en la práctica, a través de regulaciones en diversas áreas, incluyendo el uso de pesticidas y fertilizantes, la protección de los derechos de los agricultores y la promoción de políticas que incentivan prácticas agrícolas sostenibles. El artículo revisa ejemplos globales de legislación que promueven prácticas basadas en la agroecología, con un enfoque especial en la Política Agrícola Común en Europa, en políticas gubernamentales en Brasil y en Cuba. Se discuten desafíos y oportunidades para la promoción de la Agroecología como ciencia, a través de la legislación, abordando aspectos como la influencia de intereses corporativos y políticos, así como la creciente conciencia acerca de los impactos negativos del cambio climático y las demandas por sistemas alimentarios sostenibles.Este artigo aborda sobre a importância da legislação na promoção da Agroecologia, destacando o potencial do Direito para encorajar práticas de produção ética e mais sustentáveis. O estudo analisa como a legislação pode moldar a Agroecologia na prática, através de regulamentações em diversas áreas, incluindo o uso de pesticidas e fertilizantes, a proteção dos direitos dos agricultores e a promoção de políticas que incentivam práticas agrícolas sustentáveis. O artigo revisa exemplos globais de legislação que promovem prática com base agroecológica, dando enfoque especial na Política Agrícola Comum na Europa, em políticas governamentais no Brasil e em Cuba.
