Resumo: This text shows the specific needs of students in the second segment of Primary School, reflecting on the school's responsibilities, which are different from the responsibilities of family education. The school is a public space for learning and respecting others - others with whom one has no immediate emotional connection. The role of the school is to develop situations and experiences that are different from those experienced in family living. Pre-teens and teens undergo physical, emotional and social transformations and difficult transitional moments, requiring them to be treated as subjects. The text concludes that teachers should articulate the content of their areas of knowledge with the concerns of students today. The projects, developed using everyday themes, could respond to the needs these students have to learn and express, needs that are different from those that children have.
