A trigger for theoretical-methodological reflection

This paper describes the initiatives in the Urban Youth Program, which was started in 2004 by the Center for Studies and Research in Education, Culture and Community Action (Centro de Estudos e Pesquisa em Educação, Cultura e Ação Comunitária – Cenpec). The program works with young people aged 16 to 21 who live in metropolitan regions. Through an architecture of network-based action, it includes partnerships with various sectors of society, in an effort to increase individual and social expectations for the lives of young people, moving them away from social and intellectual confinement. One of the program's goals is to function as a social vector that triggers expansion of socio-cultural repertoire and expands the circulation of youth in the city and their relationships with the city, ensuring access to urban cultures and technological goods so as to drive youth action in the urban scene and open channels for production processes.
