Resumo: The establishment of the national state had its genesis in acts of occupation, through of subjugating other peoples upon power of arms. Many cultural distinctions generate permanent litigation arising from these acts of violence. As a result of the establishment of territorial space, the recognition of classic sovereignty and the exercise of it also acquires different characteristics, which establish a fragile situation on the local social organization. The present study seeks to identify the historical origin related to the constitution of the states of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, the establishment of the boundary between the two countries and the conflicts arising from the dispute over the Essequibo region. Through the use of a hypothetical-deductive method for bibliographical research, the aim is to analyze the forms of manifestation of state power, the constituent aspects of the territory of the countries in question, as well as the various peace discussions to equate the conflict, still pending resolution.
