The numbers debasement. A modern look on INDEC and national operational assessment in Argentina in the XXI century

Resumo: This article analyzes the difficulties of Argentina to strengthen the capacities of the specialized organs in the production of statistics and evaluation in a modern approach. For this, two recent events have tended to debase public data are described: the first one related to the intervention of the National Institute of Statistics and Census, and the second one with some inconveniences occurring in the dispread of the National Operational Assessment. In this line are reviewed public positions of government officials and specialists in the country who have expressed criticism or positive regard of developments. We conclude by emphasizing the urgency of generating greater transparency of public figures as an improvement in the professionalization of the institutions responsible for producing them.

Para ello se describen dos eventos recientes que han tendido a envilecer los datos públicos: el primero relacionado con la intervencion del Instituto Nacional de Estadistica y Censos, y el segundo con ciertos inconvenientes acaecidos en la difusion de los Operativos Nacionales de Evaluacion. En esta linea se revisa una serie posicionamientos públicos de funcionarios de Gobierno y especialistas de ese pais que se han expresado critica o positivamente respecto de los acontecimientos producidos. Se concluye enfatizando la urgencia de generar tanto una mayor transparencia de las cifras públicas como un mejoramiento en la profesionalizacion de los cuerpos encargados de producirlas.Este artigo analisa as dificuldades da Argentina para fortalecer as capacidades dos orgaos especializados na produção de estatisticas e avaliação em um contexto moderno. Para isso, sao descritos dois eventos recentes que tendem a desvalorizar os dados públicos: o primeiro relacionado com a intervencao do Instituto Nacional de Estatistica e Censos, e o segundo com alguns inconvenientes que ocorreram na divulgação dos Operativos Nacionais de Avaliação. Sao revistos varios posicionamentos públicos de funcionarios de governo e especialistas do pais que expressaram criticas ou consideracoes positivas dos desenvolvimentos.
