Toy Collection in Hospitals and The Recovery of Hospitalized Children: A Bibliographical Review

Resumo: When children are hospitalized, they are removed from their daily milieu and are placed in an unknown and sometimes highly traumatizing place. Therapeutic toys and playing activities lessen the hospitalization process. Current research is a bibliographical review with a qualitative approach aiming at understanding the importance of toys in hospitals. Toy collection in hospitals is thus described and information on the use of toys by children is provided. An increase in hospital´s toy collects has been perceived together with the benefits of the therapeutic toy as an expression medium and as a healthy development condition stance for children.

Desse modo, o brinquedo terapêutico e a atividade lúdica amenizam o processo de hospitalização. É um estudo realizado através da revisão bibliográfica com abordagem qualitativa, que tem por objetivo geral compreender a importância da brinquedoteca hospitalar, e por objetivos específicos descrever a brinquedoteca hospitalar e identificar informações sobre a utilização dos brinquedos pelas crianças.
