Resumo: Metabolic Syndrome and vascular complications have reached alarming proportions today and relate to large numbers of deaths worldwide. The aim of this study was to compare the anthropometric and laboratory parameters of academic community subjects, in order to describe the prevalence of indicators of metabolic syndrome. We collected anthropometry measures, blood pressure and biochemical analysis blood (glucose, total cholesterol, HDL-c, LDL-c and triglycerides). Sixty-seven students participated the FATEC-Marília aged between 18 and 45 years old and both sexes. The results showed that there is a significant variation in blood glucose, HDL-c, PA maximum between the sexes. There is high prevalence in the level differences of LDL-c (81.6% females and 88.9% men), the reduced levels of HDL-C (49% women and 83.3% men) and women high prevalence with an increase in PA (75.9%). There is also a prevalence of 28.6% and 55.6% overweight and 22.4% and 5.5% obese, respectively, in women and men. In view of these results we can conclude that much of the population has already studied the risk factors of metabolic syndrome and predisposition to develop vascular complications.

Saúde e Pesquisa; v. 2 n. 3 (2009): set./dez.2176-9206reponame:Saúde e Pesquisa (Online)instname:Cesumar Diretoria de Pesquisainstacron:CESUMARporhttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesq/article/view/1150/894Barbalho, Sandra MariaFarinazzi-Machado, Flávia Maria VasquesOshiiwa, MarieTomazela, PascoalGoulart, Ricardo AlvaresMeneguim, Gislaine OmetePereira, Laura Larainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2022-05-23T17:28:37Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/1150Revistahttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesqPUBhttps://periodicos.unicesumar.edu.br/index.php/saudpesq/oainaep@cesumar.br2176-92061983-1870opendoar:2022-05-23T17:28:37Saúde e Pesquisa (Online) - Cesumar Diretoria de Pesquisafalse
