SPINE POSTURE CHANGES IN YOUNG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS: ANALYSIS BY COMPUTER BIOPHOTOGRAMMETRY

Resumo: The gravity line passes through the physiological curves of the spine and makes it vulnerable to abnormal forces while causing posture asymmetry and changes. Current analysis evaluates the posture of young undergraduates by computer biophotogrammetry, employing photographs and Posture Evaluation Software. Mean age was 22.7 years and 97% of the students revealed scapular-pelvic unevenness; 85.7% were predisposed to cervical hyperlordosis; 74.2% had trunk anteriorization; 65.7% suffered from lumbar hyperlordosis; and 100% were prone to scoliosis. Posture alterations in young people are caused by cumulative effects from furniture inadequacy, long periods in the same position, excessive loads and bad posture habits. Guidelines for a good posture and preventive therapy may minimize effects in body biomechanics of an incorrect posture.

O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar, por meio da biofotogrametria computadorizada, a postura de jovens universitários. Imagens fotográficas e Software de Avaliação Postural foram utilizados. A média de idade foi 22,7 anos; 97% apresentaram desníveis escapulares- pélvicos; 85,7% predisposição a hiperlordose cervical; 74,2% anteriorização de tronco; 65,7% hiperlordose lombar; 100% tendência à escoliose. Nos jovens, alterações posturais devem-se a efeitos cumulativos da inadequação de mobília, postura mantida em período longo, suporte excessivo de peso e maus hábitos posturais.
