Resumo: Cresol is a hydrocarbonate and phenol compound used as a highly efficient disinfectant against several bacteria. Cresol has recently been used in experiments in the cure of wounds and tissue recovery. In fact, it features wound healing with neo-vascularization and re-epithelization. Current analysis evaluates the genotoxic effect of cresol in mice’s blood cell by micronucleus test. Sixteen female mice were employed and divided into three groups. The first group was the positive control to which cyclophosphamide at a single dose of 50mg/kg was administered. The second group received a physiological solution 0.9%, as negative control. The third group was treated with cresol. Euthanasia occurred 48 h after treatment and laminas with intracardiac blood were investigated by evaluating 1000 polychromatic erythrocytes for micronucleus counting. Within the concentration tested, cresol is a genotoxic compound that induces alteration in cell DNA and causes the formation of residual micronuclei.

A creolina também faz parte de experimentos recentes, não como fator de intoxicação, mas na cura de feridas e sobre reparação tecidual, apresentando uma cicatrização do ferimento, com acentuada neovascularização e reepitelização. Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito genotóxico da creolina nas células sanguíneas de camundongos através do teste do micronúcleo. Foram utilizados 16 camundongos fêmeas adultas, divididas em 3 grupos, sendo o primeiro, o grupo controle positivo onde foi administrado ciclofosfamida em dosagem única de 50mg/kg. O segundo grupo recebeu solução fisiológica 0,9%, como controle negativo e o terceiro grupo foi tratado com a creolina. A eutanásia foi realizada 48 horas após os tratamentos e as lâminas confeccionadas com sangue intracardíaco, avaliando 1.000 eritrócitos policromáticos para a contagem de micronúcleos.
