Resumo: | Current research evaluates and determines minimum inhibitory concentrations of two extracts from the fungus Picnoporus sanguineus. Fungus samples were collected and ground in two solvent systems to obtain extracts according to the following schedule: (1) water and (2) ethyl acetate. Two fraction extracts, polar and apolar, were obtained. Extracts were evaluated by agar diffusion technique on bacteria Escherichia coli, S. aureus, S. epidermidis, P aeruginosa and the yeast Candida albicans. Results show that polar fraction was more efficacious against S. aureus. The two tested extracts did not inhibit the growth of E. coli and C. albicans. When Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) was determined by the polar fraction, the rates of 50% and 12.5% respectively for P. aeruginosa and S. aureus were verified. In the case of apolar fraction, MIC rates were 50%, 25% and 6.25% respectively for P. aeruginosa, S. epidermidis and S. aureus. |
