Bibliographical Analysis on Chronic Wounds Patients’ Quality of Life

Resumo: Bibliography on the quality of the life of patients with chronic wounds in Brazil between 2000 and 2009 is analyzed. A systematic review of the literature was undertaken through a search on studies indexed at BIREME databases. Seven articles, a dissertation and a thesis were obtained; the former, corresponding to 50% of material, were mostly published in 2001 and 2006. Results showed that three articles were published in the online journal Ciencia y Enfermería, online Brazilian Journal of Nursing and The Journal of Nursing of UERJ, with one article each (16.6%). Four articles were published in the Jornal Vascular Brasileiro and in the Journal of Angiology and Vascular Surgery with two article each (33.3%). Taking into consideration the publications’ professional category, 62.5% belonged to the nursing field and 37.5% to the medicine one, all published in the southeastern region of Brazil. Knowledge on the characteristics on life quality of chronic wound patients would produce a change of focus which may establish more attention on one of the most important problems in Brazilian public health.

Para tanto, realizou-se uma revisão sistemática da literatura através da busca de estudos indexados nas bases de dados da BIREME. Os materiais encontrados e utilizados foram sete artigos, uma dissertação e uma tese. Destes, a maioria dos artigos se concentrou no ano de 2001 e 2006, correspondendo a 50% das publicações levantadas. Os resultados demonstraram que apenas uma publicação, ou seja, (16,6%) dos dados, foi encontrada na Revista Ciencia y Enfermería online, Online Brazilian Journal of Nursing e Revista de Enfermagem da UERJ. Duas publicações, correspondendo a 33,3%, encontraram-se no Jornal Vascular Brasileiro e outros dois (33,3%) na Revista de Angiologia e Cirurgia Vascular. Em relação às categorias profissionais dos veículos-fontes de publicação, 62,5% das pesquisas são de enfermagem e 37,5% de medicina. De todas as pesquisas levantadas, 100% delas concentraram-se na região Sudeste.
